Three teams to target kids’ potential

  • New This Year: Blue and White Teams

Specialized coaching for individual kids. New this year, the Signal Creek Coaching staff will assign each swimmer to a team that best fits your child’s swimming ability - which can.and may change throughout the season. We are committed to building on swimmers strengths to address their unique needs.

  • Blue Team A

The Blue A Team is for swimmers who are able to swim freestyle and backstroke proficiently/legally for at least one lap (down and back) without stopping. Swimmers are also able to swim breaststroke and butterfly proficiently/legally for at least one length without stopping. Members on this team will be perfecting all four strokes for efficiency. We will be focusing on building endurance and learning how to swim longer events. Swimmers will also be learning competition skills, working on starts and turns, building endurance, and becoming proficient with interval training (using the pace clock). The Blue A Team practices Monday-Thursday from either 7:30-8:30 or 8:30-9:30.

  • Blue Team B

The Blue B Team is for swimmers who are able to swim freestyle and backstroke proficiently for at least one length without stopping. Swimmers on this team should also know the basics of breaststroke and butterfly (kick, arms, breathing). Swimmers will learn how to swim all the competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle) and will learn the fundamentals of racing starts, finishes and turns. Each practice will be devoted to stroke work and techniques as well as improving endurance through swimming drills. This team is intended for kids that have swam on swim team previously; however, they are not quite ready for the intensity of the Blue A Team. The Blue B team practices Monday-Thursday from either 7:30-8:30 or 8:30-9:30.

  • White Team

The White Team is for swimmers who are able to swim freestyle for half to a full length of the pool without stopping AND can float on his/her back without help. As a member of the White Team, swimmers will be perfecting the freestyle and backstroke and will learn the basics of breaststroke and butterfly (kick, arms, breathing). Swimmers will also learn the fundamentals of racing starts and finishes. Each practice will be devoted to stroke work and techniques as well as improving endurance through swimming drills. The White Team practices Monday-Thursday from 7:45-8:30 or 8:30-9:15. We are hoping to limit this team to no more than 10 swimmers per time frame.
